Privacy Policy

Spira ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Spira freediving and apnea training app.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal data:

• Name — used to personalise your profile
• Email address — used for account creation and authentication
• User ID — an internal identifier linked to your account
• Health data — heart rate and oxygen saturation, if you connect a wearable device (optional)
• Fitness data — breath-hold times, training session records, and performance history
• Profile photo — if you choose to add one; it is re-encoded on our servers and shown next to your name to other Spira users (friends, teams and user search)
• Device identifiers — a push-notification token for your device, used only to deliver your reminders and alerts
• Crash and diagnostic data — when the app crashes: the error, the app version, device model and operating system version

2. How We Use Your Data

• To create and manage your Spira account
• To provide personalised training tables, AI coaching plans, and session history
• To enable the buddy monitoring and social features
• To sync wearable health data when you opt in
• To fix issues, via crash reports sent to our own servers
• To understand how Spira is used, via pseudonymous analytics — only if you opt in

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We use the following services which may process data on our behalf:

• Firebase (Google) — push notifications
• Google Analytics (Google) — pseudonymous usage analytics, only with your consent (see below)
• Anthropic or OpenAI — AI-generated training plan content (anonymised inputs only)

All third-party processors are bound by data processing agreements and applicable privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).

Analytics & cookies

With your permission, Spira uses Google Analytics to learn which screens and features people use, so we can improve them. The app asks once and you can change your answer at any time in Settings → Share anonymous usage data; on this website, use the banner or Cookie settings in the footer. Until you agree, nothing is sent to Google Analytics.

What is collected: screens viewed, feature events (such as completing a session or generating a plan), and device, app-version and approximate-region information, linked to a random app-instance or cookie identifier. What is never collected: your name, email, account ID, health data, heart rate, breath-hold times or other training results, or any advertising identifier. Analytics data is not used for advertising and is kept for 2 months.

4. Data Storage & Security

All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Your data is stored on secure servers. Health and fitness data is stored only for the purpose of providing the Spira service and is never used for advertising.

Staff access. A small number of authorised Spira staff can access accounts, including viewing your account as you see it, only to answer a support request you made, to handle a report about an account, or to fix a problem with the service. Staff record a reason each time and never see your password. Every such access, and every change staff make to an account, is logged. If staff change the email address on your account, we tell your previous address.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all personal data, training sessions, and health records are permanently deleted within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Withdraw consent for optional data collection (e.g. wearable sync or analytics)

To delete your account, open Spira → Settings → Account → Delete Account, or follow the account deletion guide. Alternatively, contact us at contact@spiratraining.com.

7. Children's Privacy

Spira is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes via the app or by email. Continued use of Spira after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
